Guilt & Shame
I would propose to you that God wants you to
be set free of these awful feelings. He knew
that you could not rescue yourself from that
awful place, so He sent Jesus to provide the
way.
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery
of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those
who are oppressed . . . (Luke 4:18, NKJV).
If he didn't accomplish this, he failed in His mission.
And of course He didn't fail.
By which have been given to us exceedingly
great and precious promises, that through
these you may be partakers of the divine
nature . . . (2 Peter 1:4, NKJV).
If this is true, how come you so often feel oppressed?
How come His peace so often evades you?
The Apostle Paul eloquently addressed your situation,
and mentioned the solution:
O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver
me from this body of death? I thank God -
through Jesus Christ our Lord! . . . (Romans 7:
24-25, NKJV).
The answer is "through Jesus Christ." The answer is
available. The reason that you haven't been delivered
from this body of death is because you need more
detailed instructions as to how this peace and rest can
become your daily experience.
